I’ve long been a football fan and as such when I heard that there was an Italian football team embracing a greek myth I had to learn more.
Circe, the myth.
The character of Circe is one of the famous visits which Odysseus makes, you may remember how she turned Odysseu’s men to swine and how Odysseus needed divine intervention in order to counter becoming one himself. Well, the exact location of Circe’s island has been claimed by different locations across the Mediterranean. One example of this is Circeii, an ancient Roman city, now modern day San Felice Circeo. Near it looms Monte Circeo a mountainous promontory around 541 metres high and appears almost as an island. This was one such location given as where Circe once resided.
Circe and Italian football.
Latina Calcio are a team which currently play in Serie C and are located to the south of Rome. To the southeast is Monte Circeo (San Felipe Circeo) and this link with Circe was drawn upon by Ezeta who designed their new kit.
As you can see Ezeta went full in on the photo shoot – impressive creativity and I love the Greek design (the white kit is the away one).
Latina Calcio, Circe and me!
I’m probably a bit too old to have bought a football shirt but I couldn’t resist. It’s great quality and I do like the design. A new fan is born – Forza Latina!
